Vodec Design engineers proudly show off the latest addition to the P3 family the P3-TSR60 telephone / UHF radio PAGA message store.  This unit uses CCD technology to obviate dependence on sequentially executed code and electrically alterable memory devices and eliminates the detrimental effects of acoustic feedback due to proximity of live handsets to paging loudspeakers.

SE Asia sales engineer Cris Liew photographed on a recent training mission to Vodec UK head office in Nottingham.  In her hand she holds a VSOC device which is the basis of the Vodec high integrity PAGA package, this technology requires no boot up and is immune to severe EMC making it an ideal operating core for a life safety applications.  This device is destined for service in Vodec FOP100/200 fibre optic networking solution which provides efficient transportation of vital communications over a site wide distributed PAGA broadcast system.

VSOC (Vodec System On a Chip)

The Vodec PAGA system is designed to provide efficient, reliable, highly secure service in critical life-dependant applications; to this end the PAGA system is classed as a prime safety system and stable predictable operation is a fundamental prerequisite.  Vodec P3 PAGA operating platform is based on an anti fuse system on a chip core called VSOC, this technology requires "no boot" up routine and is live and ready to deliver service immediately power is applied to the equipment panels.  All operations are carried out in real time and in parallel, there is no sequential execution of code as is the case with a PC based PAGA system and hence there is no code that could possibly become corrupted or subject to latent software bugs.  VSOC is thoroughly proven and provides immunity to severe locally radiated EMC fields, "brown outs", allows hot plugging and offers a tolerant highly resilient management sub-system essential to the operational reliability of a PAGA package.  Unlike PC based designs there are no software licenses, software tools plus the system can be locally maintained without reliance on computer experts.

Vodec SCB200 & 140dBa Sounders part of Vodec Mass Notification Disaster Warning System

Photos show part of a networked PAGA / Mass Notification system destined for the Chilean LNG project.  The central equipment racks have been specially designed and built to withstand seismic shock and are located at strategic sector positions on the site to minimise field cable infra structure overhead.  Inter sector communications is transported by single mode fibre optic cable which provides distribution of secure alarm tones, live speech paging and digitally stored message broadcast capability.  In addition to conventional high criticality PAGA the Vodec system also incorporates a Mass Notification sub system which provides effective distribution of emergency alarm tone signals.  The Vodec Mass Notification disaster warning siren array delivers a massive 140dBA sound pressure level which ensures alarm tone audibility at all process and jetty areas of the site.  The Vodec SCB200 disaster warning control unit incorporates the necessary PAGA interface and no break supervised battery supply to ensure system autonomy in event of primary mains supply disconnection.
