Queen's Award to British Industry 2008
Vodec Industrial Communications of Nottingham on the recommendation of the Prime Minister and graciously approved by Her Majesty the Queen, have received the most coveted award that British Industry can bestow; the Queen’s Award to British Industry.
Vodec are one of an elite group of companies to achieve this prestigious accolade.
Vodec design and manufacture Public Address and General Alarm Systems for Oil Refineries, Oil and Gas Platforms, Petrochemical Plants, and Drilling Ships, operating anywhere in the world where there is a danger of possible explosion or fire due to the presence of potentially explosive atmospheres.
These systems are used primarily for the protection and safety of the production workers in such hazardous environments.
Vodec is the only privately owned company in England operating in this sector.
The citation recorded that Vodec has achieved this outstanding performance by increasing its export sales in a world market by 120%, by deploying an excellent range of marketing activities, by setting up subsidiary companies in the United States and Malaysia and successfully exploiting its foreign language capabilities in a wide spread of markets around the world.
Employment within the business has more than quadrupled over the last 3 years and is still growing.
Vodec Managing Director David Bramley commented that in the comparatively short period of time since the Company was formed Vodec has worked hard and has been very successful in meeting hard-to-get International Safety and Environmental Standards which its more affluent foreign competitors have yet to obtain.
Vodec General Manager David Eades also paid tribute to a local and loyal, skilled and professional team of people whom he said had made it possible to win this prestigious award.
